ukbankconv versus BankScanPro
By Arron Child. Claims checked 20 July 2026; stale pricing or capability claims enter a 90-day review queue.
BankScanPro ranks across several UK bank-plus-converter searches (Starling, Revolut, Barclays, Lloyds) and takes an unusually restrained line on accuracy: unlike most peers it publishes no headline accuracy percentage, leaning instead on a review-first workflow and a genuinely free one-page preview. This page compares the two products on their public record, checked on the date above.
Who each option is for
BankScanPro suits someone who wants to try a real page of their own statement before committing to anything, then pay per statement or subscribe for recurring US, Canadian, or UK volume with QuickBooks-ready output. ukbankconv suits UK bookkeepers who want certainty on seven certified UK layouts and a document that never leaves their machine.
What each product says about itself
| BankScanPro | ukbankconv | |
|---|---|---|
| Model | One page free, no card. Then per-statement unlock ($3.99 for up to 25 pages), Starter $19/mo (200 pages), Pro $75/mo (3,000 pages), or page packs from $15 (100 pages, no expiry) | Credits: £9 for 10 document exports, £29 for 50, regardless of page count, no expiry |
| Unit of charge | Pages, with monthly rollover caps on subscriptions | Documents (a 12-page statement is one export) |
| Banks | "20 United Kingdom banks" including Barclays, Lloyds, HSBC, NatWest, Halifax, Tesco Bank, Ulster Bank, plus US/Canadian coverage | Seven certified UK banks with published per-bank results |
| Accuracy claim | None published; positions itself on a "review-first" workflow instead | The accuracy page publishes regenerated certification results |
| Output | Excel, CSV, OFX, QuickBooks QBO (QBO is Starter tier and above) | CSV and Excel shaped for Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent |
| Where parsing runs | On its servers: "AES-256 encrypted", "financial data excluded from analytics" | In your browser; the PDF is never uploaded |
| Verification | "Built-in balance checks" described but not detailed | Every document must reconcile or the result is labelled unverified |
Where BankScanPro is stronger
- A genuinely free, no-card preview of one real page from your own statement before you decide anything, which is a lower-friction try-before-you-buy than most competitors offer.
- No inflated accuracy percentage. Refusing to publish an unverified "99.9%" number is closer to our own stance than most of the market, even though it still has not run our test methodology.
- Broad claimed coverage: 20 UK banks by name, plus US and Canadian layouts, for anyone whose statements cross borders.
- Reusable, non-expiring page packs as an alternative to a subscription, for occasional multi-statement work.
Where ukbankconv differs on principle
- Documents, not pages. A long statement costs proportionally more there; here it is one credit regardless of length.
- Determinism over review-first AI. BankScanPro's model still relies on AI extraction with a human review step; our parsers are versioned code paths per bank layout, and every result must reconcile against the statement's own balances before it is called verified, the same failure mode generic extraction runs into elsewhere.
- Local processing. "Financial data excluded from analytics" is a policy about their servers; we remove the server from the sentence entirely.
- Seven layouts, fully certified, rather than 20 claimed; we refuse anything outside that set with the reason stated, instead of attempting it.
What we have not tested
We have not run BankScanPro through the test methodology on our fixture statements, so this page makes no claim about its actual extraction accuracy on UK banks or any other. Notably, BankScanPro itself does not claim a specific accuracy figure either.
